Majali Trekking
A mountain trekking experience presented by Majali Tours as part of its trekking offering.
Overview
Located to the east of Arusha town, about 20 kilometers drive from Arusha, Mount Meru is the second highest mountain in Tanzania. The mountain stands at an altitude of 4566 meters above sea level inside Arusha National Park.
Majali notes that Meru has one route to the top and can be attempted in three days, though four days are highly recommended for acclimatization. The page also states that many climbers use Meru for acclimatization before a Kilimanjaro climb.
Unlike Kilimanjaro, climbing Mount Meru requires being escorted by an armed ranger while passing through Arusha National Park. During the climb, guests may enjoy a walking safari experience with wildlife such as African buffaloes, zebras, and black-and-white colobus monkeys.
